ABOUT ME

My family and I live just outside of Ponder. I have a terrific husband, Doug, who is employed by Raytheon, as a Lead Quality Engineer, in McKinney. I have a wonderful daughter, Sadie, that is a Senior this year in Ponder. In January of 2004, our family lost our precious 2½ year old son, Garrett, in an accident.

We own land, run cattle, raise quail, and have a weekend house just north of Graham, Texas. My husband and I both grew up in Graham and have big families there. Your child will probably hear me talk about this part of my life quite often! I love being out in the country and working on the ranch! My favorite thing to do is work in my garden and grow tons on flowers!

I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.  This is my 22nd year to teach. It is my 10th year in 4th grade at Ponder Elementary.

I have high expectations for students’ learning and behavior. The rules will be clear and fair. Once expectations are known, our classroom will not have to deal with all of the “little things” that take away from learning time. I will keep you informed with weekly notes about behavior and classroom happenings. Please do not hesitate to contact me by calling, writing a note, or you can email me at cking@ponderisd.net. I will try to check my email a couple of times everyday, but sometimes things happen…

You are always welcome at our school and in our classroom. I look forward to working with each of you and getting to know your child. I am so excited about another school year at Ponder Elementary.
