  • Student Concerns

Posted by Joel Waldo at 11/6/2012
We have had some student concerns about inappropriate behavior in the lunchroom during lunch and inappropriate behavior outside of school in the morning before school starts.  To help address these concerns sometimes more information is needed.  For the behavior in the lunchroom, the lunch monitor needs to be informed immediately.  For the behavior outside in the morning before school, a teacher or administrator needs to be informed and the location would be helpful.

  • Follow up to 8/31 posting about wrist bands

Posted by Shawn Simmons at 10/19/2011
Ponder High School has joined with our students to support Breast Cancer Awareness by purchasing school appropriate wristbands from the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  These wrist bands are pink and say "Imagine life without breast cancer." Students may trade-in less appropriate wrist bands or purchase this item in the office. PHS encourages students to support women as a whole in the battle of cancer rather than minimizing the disease to its impact on a single body part.

  • Cafeteria

Posted by Shawn Simmons at 9/28/2011
A student asked if tables could be cleaned between each lunch period.  Our staff that have lunch duty ask students to throw away items so all tables are left without trash before students leave. We will speak with the cafeteria staff about providing a bowl with clean soapy water and clean rags so students can use them to clean up any other items as necessary.

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelet Concern

Posted by Shawn Simmons at 8/31/2011

A concern was submitted over students wearing bracelets to school which states "I Love Boobies" in support of breast cancer awareness. Several boys have been spoken to about this concern and decided to no longer wear the bracelet due to its offensiveness to some students.  Furthermore, Mrs. Routh is in the process of obtaining some pink embroidered ribbons as an alternative for those who wish to support this cause.

  • Backpacks in Classrooms

Posted by Shawn Simmons at 8/31/2011
A student dropped a suggestion in THE Box to allow backpacks in the classrooms.  We understand this is an adjustment for 9th graders because they did not have lockers in junior high.  Safety concerns, students carrying items into class that aren't necessary, and limited space within the classroom make it unreasonable to allow bags and backpacks into the classroom. Students are encouraged to empty the contents of their bags into their neatly kept locker and then roll it up for storage in the top portion of their locker.

  • Trash Cans in the Back Gym

Posted by Shawn Simmons at 8/31/2011

A student requested a trash can in the back gym in case of an accident such as a student getting sick. There is typically a trash can on the north end of the gym at the end of the bleachers.
