    Ponder High School

I'm a two time graduate (Bachelor and Master Degrees) of the University of North Texas and I'm in my 20th year in education. My family continues to love being here in Ponder. My wife, Christi, teaches 2nd grade at Ponder Elementary. My son Hayden is in 10th grade, my daughter Grace is in 6th grade, and my daughter Kate loves 3rd grade.  They all love being a part of the Lion community.

As a graduate of Ponder High School it's very exciting to be a part of a tradition of excellence. My goal is to help provide students a safe environment in which to receive a quality education.

Communication is a priority of all those who work in the Ponder school system. If there is anything I can ever do to contribute to the educational experience of your child please feel free to contact me.

    December 2016

It's as busy as ever at Ponder High School!  The fall semester has brought some new experiences to PHS.

We now offer a new instructional program to students through the University of Texas. OnRamps works through a dual-enrollment model. Using a hybrid delivery approach, students meet rigorous university-level college readiness standards and have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit from a UT faculty member and high school credit from their local teacher. All OnRamps courses are guaranteed to transfer to any public institution in Texas. OnRamps incorporates an organized data and action analytics approach to support students, teachers, and districts in their pursuit of educational excellence.

In addition to the new dual enrollment program, PHS continues to offer 24 hours of dual credit through NCTC to Junior and Seniors. Due to the number of interested students we've had to add additional sections for the first time. Current dual credit courses are US History, English Composition, English Literature, Economics, and Government.
We are in year two of a technology initiative where all students have been issued a Chromebook to access online textbooks and resources for their classes.  Teachers integrate technology to enhance curriculum and utilize Google Classroom as an online learning platform. Chromebooks provide opportunity for students to collaborate with their teachers and/or peers on coursework whether at school or at home.
The PHS Lady Lions volleyball team made their first playoff appearance ever and competed in the Regional Volleyball tournament.  They lost a very close match in the semifinals.  They had a great season and taught us all how exciting playoff volleyball can be!
The football team had a successful season and made their 2nd ever playoff appearance. The cheerleaders have done a great job leading the school in spirit with signs and pep rallies.
There have been numerous other successes early in the year.  The band received straight 1 ratings at UIL competition. There was a PHS Lady Lion Cross Country runner that advanced to regionals. Students attended an ACT Boot Camp for test prep. Students have advanced to area competition in FFA Leadership competitions and one group of ladies went to State in Greenhand skills competition. A couple of dozen students and sponsors have attended the Academic UIL State Conference preparing for this year's contests.
For a small school Ponder HS has lots to offer for students who are interested in getting involved. As busy as the fall semester has been the spring will be even busier. Students will have animals to show in the county and major shows. Academic UIL events and contests get ramped up. Spring sports get going with tennis, softball, baseball, softball, track, and golf. Basketball playoffs are right around the corner for both state ranked boys and girls teams. Clubs such as the bowling, rodeo, and fishing teams will continue their activities.  Course selections for next year are coming up while Seniors will be investigating and planning what colleges they will attend and what scholarships they are applying for. PALS, Student Council, and Spanish club all have ongoing activities.
That's just a glimpse of what's been going on at PHS and what is to come.  Feel free to call or come by with any questions!
