Mrs. Velásquez
What a privilege and honor it is to be serving and leading Ponder Elementary this school year as the Principal!!
For the last couple of years, I have been collaborating alongside an amazing team of administrators, teachers, and staff members as the Assistant Principal at Ponder Elementary. I have the blessing of knowing students and families.
Before coming to this campus, I was part of the Denton ISD for 19 years. My experience includes Pre-K - 5th Bilingual and ESL Interventionist at Boman Elementary. I have experience teaching Bilingual Emergent and ESL students in 4th, 2nd, 1st, and Kindergarten. In addition, I serve as an English Instructor in the Denton Adult Education Literacy Program. This program is now being implemented in our Ponder District and is offered to all adults who wish to learn English at no cost.
My goal is to provide students and staff members a safe place to learn, grow, and to give them opportunities to impact our community and society in a positive way. I value diversity, respect, and, of course, literacy!!! We all have more similarities than differences. We all smile and cry using the same language. We can all serve with care and honor.
I know that this year, we will have new teachers, staff members, and two new Assistant Principals!! I am super excited to have new staff members at our campus. Please take a minute to stop by and meet them. We will be updating all this information as soon as we have everything completed.
Our new theme this year is "We Are Wild About Ponder Elementary!".
If you are new to Ponder, WELCOME TO OUR NEW FAMILY!! I am excited about getting to know your child and your family. If you are returning to Ponder, WELCOME BACK!! I hope that your family had a restful summer and is ready for the new school year.
