At Ponder Elementary, we make every effort to communicate with parents when absences or tardies become a problem. When your child has been absent without excuse or tardy 3 or more days within a 4-week period or 10 or more days in a 6 month period, you will receive a warning letter. Please contact the school to arrange a conference regarding absences or tardies. After the warning letter has gone out, if your child is absent without excuse or tardy again, a letter will be sent to the Justice of the Peace. The judge's office will contact you with a date to appear in court regarding your child's absences or tardies. We truly hope that it will never be necessary to file truancy charges against any parent at our school. We want every child to be in attendance daily so they can gain the maximum benefit from their educational experience.
