Ponder ISD is proud to celebrate Oliver Rich, a fourth grader, for being named one of just 200 finalists in Texas for the National Math Stars program—an incredible achievement considering there were more than 4,500 applicants statewide.
Oliver was nominated by his third grade math teacher, Jessica Peters, and his Gifted & Talented teacher, Amanda Pickering, who recognized his exceptional mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and passion for learning.
As a participant in Ponder’s Gifted & Talented program, Oliver has consistently demonstrated the kind of curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking that National Math Stars is designed to nurture.
The National Math Stars program is a ten-year, fully funded initiative that identifies and supports mathematically talented students from third grade through high school. Each student selected gains access to over $100,000 worth of resources and support, including advanced math development opportunities, financial assistance, family advising, and a nationwide network of peers and mentors.
“This is an incredible honor for Oliver, and we are thrilled to see his hard work and love for mathematics recognized on such a big stage,” said Peters. “We know he will continue to shine.”
Congratulations, Oliver, on this outstanding achievement! Your Ponder family is proud of you.
