Ponder ISD’s Gifted and Talented (GT) program hosted its first GT Family Night of the 25-26 school year on Monday, November 3, and it was a huge success! The event, held in the Lower Elementary Cafeteria, brought together 42 families - including students from the elementary and junior high campuses - for an evening filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and collaboration. Several Ponder High School GT students also volunteered to help run the stations, serving as great role models and leaders for younger students.

Families rotated through six interactive stations, each designed to engage the four GT domains through fun and meaningful activities. Stations included:

🧠 Intellectual Station – Trivia Showdown: Families worked together to test their knowledge in a friendly trivia competition.

💡 Creative Station – Crazy Invention Lab: Teams used surprise materials to design and pitch their own imaginative inventions.

🎨 Artistic Station – Mystery Art Challenge: Students created one-of-a-kind masterpieces using mystery art supplies.

🤝 Leadership Station – Giving Grace Snack Bags: Families decorated and packed snack bags to help local families in need this holiday season.

🍪 Snack & Reflection Station: Families and students enjoyed refreshments while sharing their favorite moments from the evening.

The night provided a special opportunity for GT students and their families to connect, collaborate, and celebrate learning together, further strengthening the GT program community across Ponder ISD.

Special thanks to Amanda Pickering and Alicia Deranger for organizing such an engaging and meaningful event for our GT families.

We’re excited to share that another GT Family Night is already being planned for the spring — stay tuned for more details!
