Today, our Ponder Junior High STEP students took learning beyond the classroom — and into the heart of the community.
Using money they’ve earned through their on-campus snack cart business, students decided to do something special: they purchased donuts from the local donut shop and delivered them to the Ponder Police Department as a thank-you for serving our community. This thoughtful gesture was entirely student-led, inspired by their recent lessons about community helpers and what it means to give back.
After visiting with officers, the group headed to Sam’s Club to restock their snack cart inventory. Students worked together to determine what items were needed, create a shopping list, and check off products as they filled the cart — all while practicing teamwork, organization, and real-world math and budgeting skills.
Their day ended at Chick-fil-A, where each student ordered their own meal, using soft skills like communication, eye contact, and independence — vital life skills that extend far beyond school walls.
This experience reflects the heart of what it means to be Made for Greatness: confidence, kindness, independence, and community.
A huge shoutout to Mrs. Estes and Mrs. Norman for creating a classroom culture that empowers students to dream big and make a difference.
Way to go, PJH STEP Lions — you’re truly showing what greatness looks like!
