The Ponder FFA chapter is celebrating a landmark achievement after member Bristol Shoemate earned Reserve Champion Hampshire Breeding Gilt honors at the 2026 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the most competitive and prestigious livestock shows in the state of Texas.
Competing among top exhibitors from across the state, Shoemate captured her class and advanced to claim the Reserve Champion title with a Hampshire gilt bred by Creager Family Farms and sired by Phenom, a pairing recognized for exceptional genetics and show-ring success. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone not only for Bristol, but for the entire Ponder FFA program.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo—often referred to simply as “San Antonio”—is one of the major Texas livestock shows where competition is intense and champions are remembered for years. Achieving a Reserve Champion banner at a Texas major places Shoemate among the state’s highest-performing youth exhibitors for 2026.
Ponder FFA advisors and members expressed tremendous pride in Bristol’s dedication, preparation, and skill in the show ring. Her success serves as an inspiration for younger exhibitors and a testament to the high standards of the Ponder FFA livestock program.
