Ponder ISD is excited to welcome Stephanie Culwell as our new School Resource Officer (SRO). With an impressive background in law enforcement, a passion for serving others, and a heart for working with young people, Officer Culwell is a wonderful addition to the Ponder family.
Officer Culwell brings a diverse educational background to her role. She earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She also holds a Cosmetology License and spent 23 years in the cosmetology industry before pursuing a career in public service.
A familiar face to the area, Officer Culwell grew up in Krum, one of Ponder's longtime rivals. During her school years, she played basketball and softball, experiences that taught her the value of teamwork, discipline, and hard work.
Family is at the center of Officer Culwell's life. She is the proud mother of three sons, including 21-year-old twins and her youngest son, who is 19. One works in corrections, another is pursuing a career in the fire service, and the youngest is a management trainee with 84 Lumber. Together, she and her husband have six children and five grandchildren.
One fun fact about Officer Culwell is that she is a twin who has twins, a unique family connection that always makes for a great story.
Outside of work, Officer Culwell enjoys staying active. She and her husband are ultramarathon runners, a hobby that reflects the dedication and perseverance she brings to every challenge.
As School Resource Officer, Officer Culwell looks forward to building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while helping create a safe and welcoming environment on every Ponder ISD campus. She believes strong relationships and open communication are essential to supporting student success, and she is excited to become part of the Ponder ISD community.
Please join us in giving Officer Stephanie Culwell a warm Ponder Lion welcome. We are excited to have her on our team and look forward to the positive impact she will make on our students, staff, and families.
