Made for greatness moment

Students in Ms. Hathcock’s 7th grade classroom had a pretty incredible week as science, art, and College and Career Exploration all came together in one unforgettable experience.

The class tuned in to the Artemis II livestream and watched as astronauts traveled behind the moon, the farthest humans have ever gone into space. Students cheered when they hit that milestone, held their breath during a temporary loss of signal, and celebrated when communication came back. It was one of those moments where learning felt real and exciting.

Along the way, students also learned about the many careers behind a mission like this. They were surprised to discover it takes thousands of people, including engineers, scientists, technicians, and more, to make something like Artemis II happen. It really helped them see how teamwork plays a huge role in big accomplishments.

While watching the mission, students got creative by designing their own moon stations, blending science with art and imagination. It was a fun way to think like both scientists and creators at the same time.

Experiences like this spark curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, and remind us that learning can be both meaningful and fun. Awesome job Ms. Hathcock!

Shoutout to Mrs. Wiggins and Mrs. Akins for helping build the strong foundation that makes opportunities like this possible!
