We’ve got to take a second and brag on our Ponder ISD Special Education Department!

Four educators have recently been recognized for demonstrating Ponder 44 in action and operating in complete LION Mode. From creating inclusive classrooms and building student independence to supporting colleagues and advocating for kids, these educators are putting the values we want for our Lions into action every day.

Ms. Masterson has taken LION Mode to heart by intentionally creating a classroom community that meets the diverse needs of her students while maintaining high expectations. Through strong relationships, clear expectations and opportunities for students to support and celebrate one another, she is empowering her Lions to play an active role in creating a safe, collaborative and inclusive learning environment. She is showing students that leading with purpose happens in the everyday moments.

Miss Hidee is truly the “boots on the ground,” consistently showing up for students and staff and often stepping in before anyone even realizes help is needed. She empowers students to feel capable, valued and supported while continuing to hold them to high expectations. Through her consistency, kindness and willingness to serve, she demonstrates that integrity isn’t just something we teach—it’s something we live.

Mrs. Leake is preparing her students for much more than their next assignment—she is preparing them for their next level and beyond. By making her classroom accessible in both English and Spanish, she creates meaningful opportunities for students to develop expressive language and learn to advocate for their own wants and needs. Her intentional focus on communication, independence and self-advocacy is helping her Lions become confident learners who are Next Level Ready.

Mrs. Debidart demonstrates what servant leadership in action looks like. She leads with a heart for kids and the mindset of an advocate by asking thoughtful questions, identifying needs and taking action. Whether strengthening systems, supporting her team or finding better ways to serve students, she is willing to step up, problem-solve and grow alongside others.

And their work has been noticed! Poppy The Red Duck has been making her way through the Special Education Department, recognizing the people who are putting Ponder 44 into practice.

These four educators represent different roles, classrooms and examples of service, but the common thread is simple: showing up for students, supporting others and leading through action.

That’s Ponder 44 in action.
That’s LION Mode. 🦁❤️
